An upper low near Hawaii this weekend will weaken into next week
as upper level ridging tries to build back in north or over the
islands next week. Before this though, the upper low will will
help bring deeper ITCZ moisture northward with some increased
rainfall potential into early next week. Moderate to gusty
easterly winds this weekend will weaken next week underneath this
trough. Later next week, a cold front may try to swing southward
towards the islands, but with uncertainty in the timing. This
could bring some increased precipitation to especially the western
islands. The guidance shows good agreement on this overall
pattern for the next week, but still with some uncertainty in the
details which affect QPF distribution and amounts across the
island chain.
