At 1000 PM EDT...Surface observations show a 986 mb (29.11 in Hg)
surface low pressure is located in central Kansas along a frontal
boundary. Mosaic radar shows moderate snowfall ongoing across the
Dakotas, and a heavier band of snowfall moving north over
Minnesota and Wisconsin. Gusty winds are occurring over portions
of the Plains and New Mexico with the tightening pressure gradient
and ahead of a cold front moving in.

A developing cyclone across the Plains will strengthen and move
northwards towards Minnesota and Wisconsin on the day
Wednesday.Snow will become increasingly heavy across the northern
Plains starting tonight and tomorrow with a heavy and wet snowfall
across the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The arrowhead of
Minnesota and areas along Lake Superior may see maximum snowfall
totals of 8-12 inches. Winds could gust in the 30-40 mph range and
make visibility low in snowfall. Additionally, there is a
potential for ice accumulations Thursday across portions of
central New England that may make travel hazardous.
